Paris: Novak Djokovic defeated nine-time champion Rafael Nadal 7-5, 6-3, 6-1 to advance into the semi-final of the French Open 2015.Nadal, who has dominated at the Roland Garros for a decade, looked like a shadow of himself in the quarter-final encounter where the Serbian spoiled his birthday party.
In the last three years, it was Djokovic who was at the receiving end as Nadal emerged triumphant on all occasions -- in the 2012 and 2014 finals and 2013 semi-finals.
Prior to the quarter-final, Nadal had a 70-1 record at the tournament while Djokovic had lost all six times he had faced the Spaniard in Paris.
Now that he has crossed the most difficult hurdle, Djokovic has the best chance to win a maiden French Open title and complete a career Grand Slam.
