SUVs are generally not meant to be luxurious as they are basically made for off-roading activities. But cars like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rovers have proven that one can look for a luxurious off-roading machine that can give you the best of the worlds. Bentley, the luxury car maker from Britain is aiming to tap the same market with its Bentley Bentayga. Bentley is touting the SUV as the most luxurious and expensive SUV ever manufactured and will be class-apart.Bentley has been showing teaser images and videos of the SUV lately and named the SUV this January. Expected to launch later this year, the “Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments,” according to Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors.Bentley is aiming to sell 3000 units of the SUV per year and believes that Bentayga will be the pinnacle of luxury and performance. The car will be manufactured at the Crewe-based headquarters which were recently upgraded with a planned GBP 40 million investment for a new styling studio, R&D offices, and a technical workshop. The company may add a plug-in hybrid variant in the lineup in 2017
