Fun At Family Beach Vacations

Going to the beach is something that everyone wants to do once in a while. Some families go every single year to enjoy the sun and surf. If this is a vacation idea for you this year, take some time to think about a few things so that your vacation is a splash rather than a huge pain. Family beach vacations usually go over very well as long as your family enjoys time in the sun, and also if you make sure you have all the right things with you. Don't obsess about it too much, but be prepared for common at the beach issues.

The biggest issues that you have in the sun, is of course, the sun. There are some concerns today about the ingredients in sunscreen, so find a brand that does not have any questionable ingredients. This may be hard to find, so look online for what you need. Also, stay out of the sun during the midday hours when the sun is the hottest. One of the biggest problems with some family beach vacations is family members getting sunburned, or even coming down with sun poisoning, which requires a trip to the ER. Get good sunscreen, take sun hats, and use beach umbrellas to stay out of the sun at least part of the time.

In the event that someone does get a sunburn, one of the best treatments is a natural one. Aloe has been used for a long time on many family beach vacations when someone has forgotten to watch how much sun they were getting. Aloe may not entirely cure the problem, but it does offer much relief when a sunburn is painful. If someone in your family gets sunburned and blisters appear, take them to the ER as soon as you can to make sure they are not going to get sick. In the meantime, remember to warn everyone about the best time to get burned and how to avoid it.

Sand is a part of any beach, but it can be an annoyance. Family beach vacations usually involve a lot of sand sticking to bodies both wet and dry. It is always a good idea to have everyone change before you go back to your hotel. If you are staying right on the beach, you may not worry about it, but if you get sand in your car, truck or SUV, you may never get all of it out. Find ways for people to change before you head back after an afternoon hanging out in the sand and in the water.

Lastly, keep a lot of snacks and plenty of water with you when you go on family beach vacations. Playing in the sun and swimming both take a lot of energy out of someone. Children can get tired easily and adults will too without proper snacks and drinks. The water is especially important to keep hydrated when it is really hot outside. Gatorade and other sports drinks may work well, but always have good, old fashioned water with you, as it is the very best at re-hydrating the body.
